Transped orders new generation harbour crane

Bulk cargo operator Transped has placed an order for a Konecranes Gottwald Generation 6 mobile harbour crane to enhance its handling capacity and operational efficiency at the Venezia-Marghera port in Italy.

The order was finalized in Q4 2024 and the new machine is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2025.

Part of the Italian FHP Group, a national operator in the bulk sector handling around 10 million tonnes of cargo annually, Transped brings over 40 years of specialized steel handling expertise to the Venezia-Marghera port, a key hub for northern Italy’s manufacturing industries.

After years of reliable operation with a Generation 5 mobile harbour crane, Transped has chosen to upgrade to the next-generation Konecranes Gottwald ESP.7 Mobile Harbor Crane. Designed with a higher crane classification, the ESP.7 offers a longer service life, potentially doubling that of its predecessor in certain applications.

The ESP.7 crane combines the versatility and power that Transped needs for specialized steel handling in the industrial port environment,” stated Gino Gherri, Regional Sales Manager at Konecranes.

Additionally, Transped has selected the eco-efficient Konecranes hybrid drive for the new crane. This system utilizes ultracapacitors to store energy generated during braking and reuses it when needed, reducing the reliance on the diesel engine. This innovation helps lower fuel consumption and reduces operational emissions.
