1. Purpose of This Code
This Code of Conduct defines the fundamental expectations and ethical standards that guide all employees, crew, contractors, suppliers, agents and partners working with JAR GROUP. It applies to all divisions such as shipping, logistics, marine, crew manning, trading, retail, tea, and e-commerce.
2. Integrity, Honesty & Ethical Behaviour
Everyone representing JAR GROUP must:
- Act with honesty, professionalism and integrity.
- Respect laws, regulations and international maritime standards.
- Avoid conflicts of interest and declare any potential conflict.
- Refrain from fraudulent or misleading behaviours.
3. Anti-Corruption & Anti-Bribery
JAR GROUP maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards:
- Bribery, facilitation payments or “speed money”.
- Corrupt practices at ports, customs offices or inspections.
- Misuse of company funds, documents or authority.
- Undisclosed commissions or improper advantages.
4. Fair Labour, MLC 2006 & Human Rights
JAR GROUP complies with international labour standards including MLC 2006 (Maritime Labour Convention).
- No forced labour, child labour or human trafficking.
- Fair working conditions, safe environment, timely wages.
- Respectful treatment of all crew and employees.
- Equal opportunity and non-discrimination.
5. Safety, Security & Environment
All employees, crew and contractors must:
- Promote a safe working environment under SOLAS, ISPS & IMO guidelines.
- Follow environmental protection practices in logistics and shipping.
- Prevent pollution, waste, and harm to marine ecosystems.
- Report safety hazards or near-miss incidents immediately.
6. Data Privacy & Confidentiality
Personal data must be handled responsibly under GDPR-aligned and PDPA-aligned guidelines. Confidential information must never be disclosed without authorization.
- Access only necessary data; avoid excess collection.
- Use secure methods for data sharing and storage.
- Respect crew, customer and supplier privacy at all times.
- Submit data modification requests via Personal Data Request.
7. Anti-Fraud & Accurate Reporting
All staff must:
- Maintain truthful records, documents and financial statements.
- Never alter, misrepresent or tamper with information.
- Report suspected fraud to management immediately.
8. Supplier, Vendor & Partner Responsibilities
Vendors and subcontractors working with JAR GROUP must maintain ethical standards equal to our own.
- Safe operations and fair trade practices.
- Respect for human rights and labour laws.
- Compliance with international shipping, logistics and marine rules.
- No involvement in illegal or unethical activities.
9. Reporting Misconduct
Suspected violations can be reported confidentially through our Speak Up Line. Retaliation against whistleblowers is prohibited.
10. Enforcement & Disciplinary Action
Any breach of this Code may lead to disciplinary measures including warnings, suspension, termination of employment or termination of contractual relationships.
